Peek You is a revolutionary search engine where you can search for people using their name, username or email address. You can then adjust your search results to refine the results. If you see that the search term you have entered returns far too many results then you can adjust the terms to narrow things down.

Members of the site have profiles and other social components. This means that you can include links to blogs and various other sites. You can also use RSS feeds to keep up to date with blogs quickly and easily. All of these profiles can be edited by pretty much anyone who has an editor account. It’s possible to add pages if there isn’t already a page for them.

Peek You was founded in April 2006 by Michael Hussey. The company is based in New York City and it has received funding from Duggal Dimensions. Competitors of Peek You include LinkedIn, Spock, and Wink.

The creator of Peek You also created RateMyProfessionals and RateMyTeachers. The first site was sold off to MTV but RateMyTeachers is still controlled by Michael Hussey.

Peek You has a nice clean design and feel. This makes it very easy to use, on the main homepage of the site there are popular people which are being searched for at the moment or talked about in the news. There are also various different sections which can make the site even easier to use.

You can use the site without signing up however if you do want to registry then it won’t take very long. The signup form is slightly longer than normal but it’s still fairly short. When filling in the city, state box you should be patient and let the site offer you results once you have typed one part of the city in. This will help you to narrow it down. Rather annoyingly if it doesn’t exist in their database you can’t set your city as that. You will then be sold a number of offers and promotions, if you want to ignore these then simply click on the skip button. You will be sent a confirmation email, just ignore the offers and go to your email box to click the link. This will activate your account and give you full access.

Using Peek You to find people is completely free. Registering for an account is also free. The site is supported by adverts which are quite big however these don’t really cause any problems or detract from the usefulness of the website.
